[MonetDB-users] NOOB Questions

Hi All, * With how large a dataset has MonetDB been tested? In the Terebyte range? * Is there a clustering server, or way of distributing server load that keeps writes synced? The documentation is great, but I didn't see a mention under "server" of clustering. Thanks, Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, Thanks for your email. Unfortunately we don't know what the largest dataset is used in the customer base. To reach this level currently requires middleware support or application specific knowledge. The core development team is involved in e.g. the TeraTrec information retrieval activites, and we are using the SkyServer 2.7TB as a target for developing re-useable components to scale to large number of processors. The largest cluster machine MonetDB (<version 4) worked on, was a SGI 32-node SGI Origin with 48 G RAM. The functionality you aim for is not yet available for general use. But it's high on our development list and we would like to learn from others working in this area. regards, Martin Jonathan Hendler wrote:
